Oh My: Patient Makes Fashion Statement; Fox Acts 'Out of Character'

Mario Kart?

A man called Hopkinton Police this week to report that another driver threw trash out of his car window. The caller said he honked his horn, and in return, was given the finger. An officer spoke with the alleged litterbug, who said he had just tossed a banana peel. Unlike the video game Mario Kart, this did not result in any nearby cars spiraling out of control.

It's free and comfortable; why wouldn't you wear it?

A woman called Milford police to report her daughter was discharged from the hospital, but had gone to a relative's workplace still wearing the hospital gown. She reported her daughter might still be walking around Main Street with the johnny.

I know this fox, and he never acts this way.

A Northborough resident reported a fox was in the yard, acting out of character. Police responded and were unable to locate the fox.

POLL: Which TV Show Are You Sad Will Air No More?

Every May, the networks release their list of cancelled shows.

On the list may be a new show, the network never gave a chance or a favorite, the network thinks has run its life.

CBS has made its CSI decision: CSI: Miami is being cancelled after a rather incredible 10-season run.

Some in the industry feel Fox made a mistake not picking up this ambitious drama for a second season, reported Entertainment Weekly. Terra Nova managed the rare feat of delivering a sizable family audience to a broadcast drama, found its legs creatively in its final hours and there was nothing else like it on TV. Cost was a factor, reported Entertainment Weekly.

Once top shows like House and Desperate Housewives will air no more, either.

Chuck had its series finale earlier this year and Desperate Housewives earlier this week. House will air its last episode on Monday, May 21.

Some shows barely made the cut. For example NBC said this upcoming season will be the last one for 30 Rock.

Tell us, in our unscientific poll, which show, you will miss the most that was cancelled between the 2011-12 season.

Resiliency For Life Named Finalist for Nonprofit Award
Resiliency For Life

Friends of Resiliency for Life, an education and youth organization in Framingham, has been selected as a finalist for the 2012 Nonprofit Excellence Awards.

The Excellence Awards are given each year to outstanding nonprofit organizations and professionals in the Commonwealth as part of Massachusetts Nonprofit Network’s Nonprofit Awareness Day, a state-wide holiday recognizing the nonprofit sector in Massachusetts.

Friends of Resiliency for Life has been selected as a finalist for the Nonprofit Excellence Award in Board Leadership for the inspiring leadership demonstrated by its Board Chair Todd Witherow to create a highly functioning, effective Board of Directors dedicated to the most at-risk youth of Framingham.

Under his leadership, the Board of Directors has championed programmatic enhancements through corporate and individual contributions to support Framingham high schoolers after graduation – ensuring that support continues post-high school and into the college years or job search process.

Not only has Resiliency for Life’s Board taken an active role in the fundraising process, but their engagement with the students served by the organization is evident in the resounding success of the organization to positively influence Framingham youth for the better and help them succeed in school and life.

“Our communities would not be the same without the extraordinary work of nonprofits,” said Rebecca Donham, trustee of the MetroWest Nonprofit Network.  “These finalists represent the best of an exceptional group of individuals and organizations serving our region and the Commonwealth.”

Excellence Award finalists and winners are nominated by community members and their peers and are selected by an independent panel of nonprofit leaders.

This year, Massachusetts Nonprofit Network received 122 Nonprofit Excellence Award nominations.

“Nonprofit Awareness Day was created to recognize the essential role that over 25,000 statewide nonprofits, with nearly a half million employees, play in our lives,” said Rick Jakious, CEO of the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network. “These finalists represent the very best of this critical sector.”

Nonprofit Excellence award finalists and winners will be celebrated at the 2012 Nonprofit Awareness Day celebration on the morning of June 11 at the Massachusetts State House.
